Large Industrial Gas Plant National Network Upgrade Project

Conducts on-site network surveys at over 40 factories to assess connectivity and outputs network architecture topologies. Develops tailored solutions, overseeing survey, design, equipment procurement, and post-delivery technical training.

Customer Introductions

The client is a large professional gas company dedicated to the development of China's industry. The group headquarters is located in Pudong, Shanghai, with investment headquarters and design and research centers established in Hong Kong and Hangzhou, respectively. After more than ten years of development, the business has expanded nationwide and even overseas. Currently, the client group has more than 40 factories across the country, with each factory's office network accessing headquarters OA and other business systems through dedicated external network lines. There is a current need to unify and overhaul the office networks of all factories to achieve centralized management by the headquarters IT department.

Customer Pain Points

  • Pain Point 1

The current internal network structure in the factories is chaotic with no unified standards.

  • Pain Point 2

The factories are located across the country, mostly in suburban areas of second and third-tier cities. There is limited IT personnel with limited technical capabilities. Each factory operates its independent network, making centralized management by the headquarters inconvenient.

  • Pain Point 3

There are no security measures implemented within the internal network, and the PCs terminals lack antivirus software.

Solution

  • Pain Point 1:The current internal network structure in the factories is chaotic with no unified standards.

    Solution:

    • Conduct on-site surveys to thoroughly research the current network conditions in all factories.
    • Develop a unified network architecture plan.
    • Enable staff access to internal resources through VPN connections.
    • Route external internet access through local networks.
    • Replan internal IP addresses.
    • After the overhaul, each factory's internal network can be centrally managed.

  • Pain Point 2: The factories are located across the country, mostly in suburban areas of second and third-tier cities. There is limited IT personnel with limited technical capabilities. Each factory operates its independent network, making centralized management by the headquarters inconvenient.

    Solution:

    • Currently, each factory has its independent network with irregular internal IP address allocations and chaotic private connections, allowing anyone with a laptop to access the network. To address this, the headquarters will implement a unified IP address plan. DHCP will be disabled on all wireless routers within the internal network, and the WAN port of the routers will be connected to the LAN port to operate them as wireless bridges. Engineers will be stationed on-site to implement the standardized IP address plan and change the IP addresses of all network devices and terminal equipment within the factories.

  • Pain Point 3: There are no security measures implemented within the internal network, and the PCs terminals lack antivirus software.

    Solution:

    • Currently, all factory accesses to the headquarters' business systems are via the public network without data encryption. Moreover, most of the internal network devices and structures within the factories are relatively simple, operating at the second layer without VLANs. The exit gateway for the low-end devices serves as the outbound gateway, and there are no VLANs within the internal network. After the transformation, all staff access internal resources through VPN devices, and standardized management software and antivirus software are uniformly installed on terminal devices.
